Well of Souls, Sacred site in Jerusalem
The Well of Souls is a partly natural, partly man-made cave located inside the Foundation Stone under the Dome of the Rock shrine in Jerusalem.
It has been associated with religious traditions dating back at least as far as the Iron Age.
In Jewish tradition, it is known as the Holy of Holies and is venerated as a pivotal part of the First and Second Temples.
Today, it is not accessible to the public due to its location within the Dome of the Rock.
The Well of Souls is believed by some to be the place where all the souls of the dead are stored.
