9/11 Living Memorial Plaza, Memorial cenotaph in Ramot, Jerusalem, Israel

The memorial in Ramot is a 9.14-meter-tall structure made of granite, bronze, and aluminum shaped as an American flag. The building combines stationary and upward-moving forms to create a clearly visible composition.

The memorial was inaugurated on November 12, 2009, and contains a piece of metal from the World Trade Center ruins donated by New York City. This connection between the two locations created a place of remembrance in Jerusalem.

Metal plaques surrounding the memorial bear the names of 2,980 victims, including five Israeli citizens who died in the attacks on September 11, 2001. These names remind visitors of the diverse people whose lives were touched by that day.

The memorial sits near Ramot neighborhood in Arazim Valley and offers visitors panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The site is easily accessible and works well for a visit where you can take time to pause and reflect.

The monument begins with a planned collapsing wall that transforms into an ascending American flag rising toward the sky. This design tells a visual story of destruction and rise within a single structure.
