Kaleshwaram, Agricultural village in Mahadevpur, Telangana, India
Kaleshwaram is a settlement in Mahadevpur, Telangana, where the Godavari and Pranahita rivers meet. The village stands about 277 kilometers (172 miles) northeast of Hyderabad and 125 kilometers (78 miles) from Karimnagar, surrounded by farmland and modern irrigation infrastructure.
The settlement gained importance starting in 2010 when construction began on a large lift irrigation project that opened in June 2019. This work reshaped the surrounding countryside, introducing new canals and pumping stations throughout the area.
The local population of 1,986 residents communicates primarily in Telugu and Urdu, maintaining traditional agricultural practices while adapting to modern irrigation systems.
Buses operated by TSRTC run regularly from Hyderabad, Godavarikhani, Warangal, and Karimnagar to the village. Visitors should expect longer travel times and prepare for warm weather, especially when spending time outdoors near the riverbanks.
The Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy Temple houses two Shiva Lingas placed on a single pedestal, a rare arrangement in the region. Local tradition associates them with both Shiva and Yama, giving the temple a particular religious significance among pilgrims.
