Mypadu Beach, Coastal beach in Nellore district, India
Mypadu Beach is a sandy beach on the eastern coast of India, facing the Bay of Bengal in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. The shore is wide and flat, with a gentle slope into the water and sand in shades of golden brown.
The area around Mypadu was originally a small fishing settlement, largely unknown outside the region. A state-led tourism initiative in the early 2000s brought the first facilities and put the beach on the map for travelers.
Every morning, local fishermen pull their boats onto the sand and sort their catch in full view of anyone passing by. The rhythm of their work gives the beach a lived-in character that sets it apart from a purely tourist destination.
The beach is accessible throughout the day, but the midday heat can be very strong, especially in summer. Going early in the morning or close to sunset makes for a more comfortable visit.
Natural whirlpools form in the offshore waters and make swimming unsafe in several parts of the sea here. Local authorities mark designated safe zones along the shoreline, and staying within them is strongly advised.
