Sahand

Mount Sahand rises to an elevation of 3,710 meters and contains seventeen distinct peaks exceeding 3,000 meters throughout its extensive mountain range.

The geological formation of Mount Sahand occurred between 12 and 0.14 million years ago, creating a massive stratovolcano composed of dacite rocks.

The mountain holds deep significance in Iranian maritime heritage, with multiple naval vessels of the Iranian fleet bearing the name Sahand.

The Sahand Ski Resort, located on the northern slopes 50 kilometers from Tabriz, provides winter sports facilities from February through April.

The mountain system encompasses multiple geological formations within its range, featuring diverse flora and fauna across its numerous peaks and valleys.
