Blue Mosque, Islamic monument in Tabriz, Iran.
The Blue Mosque features a central dome spanning 17 meters and extensive tilework covering the interior and exterior walls in deep shades of blue.
Built in 1465 under the Kara Koyunlu dynasty, the mosque sustained severe damage during an earthquake in 1780, leaving only twenty percent intact.
The mosque contains intricate calligraphy in Kufic and Thuluth scripts, displaying Persian architectural elements through geometric patterns and floral motifs on its walls.
The mosque remains accessible to visitors throughout the year, with facilities including restrooms, a gift shop, and guided tours in multiple languages.
The structure houses two underground tombs discovered during restoration work, believed to belong to Sultan Jahanshah and his daughter Saleheh Khatun.
