Khosrowgerd Tower

The Khosrowgerd Tower is a cylindrical brick structure in Sabzevar County, reaching approximately 28 meters in height with detailed craftsmanship throughout. The walls feature carefully arranged brick patterns and mortar work that define its distinctive appearance and robust form.

The structure was built during the Seljuk period, with construction completed in 1112 as a work of medieval architecture. In 1932, it received official designation as a national heritage site and protected cultural property.

The tower displays traditional Persian building methods through its regular brick patterns and architectural details that reflect Seljuk techniques. This construction style was typical for the era and continues to show how people built solid structures to last centuries.

Wear sturdy shoes as the ground around the tower can be uneven and the setting is rural. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon when the light is better and temperatures are more comfortable.

The tower has survived more than 900 years and maintains its original round shape, showing that medieval Iranian engineers built remarkably stable structures. Creating a tower of this height and mass without modern tools reveals the exceptional skill of medieval builders.
