Baharestan

Baharestan is a government building in District 12 of Tehran that exemplifies classical Persian architecture from the Qajar period. The facade displays elaborate tilework, carved stone columns, and geometric patterns that showcase the craftsmanship of that era.

The building was constructed in 1879 during the Qajar dynasty and became a central location for Iranian parliamentary sessions. This role ended in 2004 when parliamentary activities moved to another location.

The building displays Persian design elements that remain visible in its appearance today. The combination of tilework and carved details reflects the artistic tradition that was common during the period of its construction.

Access to the building is limited because it remains an active government site and visitors require permission from local authorities. Tours are not available without official authorization.

The building demonstrates a transitional style between traditional Persian craftsmanship and modern architectural needs. This blend makes it a special example of how older and newer building ideas came together.
