Jerago con Orago, Municipality in Province of Varese, Italy
Jerago con Orago is a municipality in the Province of Varese in Lombardy, formed by two distinct settlement centers. Together they create a small administrative unit with around 5,000 inhabitants spread across approximately 4 square kilometers.
The two villages of Jerago and Orago were united into a single municipality and share a long common history. A castle dating to the 13th century stands as a witness to their shared past.
The municipality carries two separate identities through local names: residents of Jerago are called Jeraghesi and those of Orago are known as Oraghesi. These designations preserve the distinct roots of the two communities that now share one administration.
The area is connected to surrounding regions via the Cavaria-Oggiona-Jerago railway station. The compact size and rail access make it easy to explore both centers and travel to nearby cities.
The municipality sits roughly 40 kilometers northwest of Milan and about 13 kilometers south of Varese in a central position between two larger cities. This location shapes its character as a connecting point within the broader region.
