Montesilvano, Coastal commune in Province of Pescara, Italy.
Montesilvano is a commune in the Province of Pescara on the Italian Adriatic coast, stretching between the beach and the elevated old town center. The town sits at about five meters above sea level and borders directly on Pescara and other neighboring communes along the coast and inland.
The medieval settlement arose on a hill above the coast, while the modern marina developed later by the sea. In 2027, the commune will merge with Pescara and other towns to form a new enlarged administrative unit called Pescara.
The name comes from Latin Mons Silvanus, referring to the wooded hills that once shaped the area. Today the coastal town stretches along the Adriatic and connects the historic inland center with the modern beach zone by the sea.
The town is reached by several roads and lies just a few kilometers from Abruzzo Airport. The center sits almost at sea level and can be explored on foot, while connections to neighboring towns run along the coastal road.
The commune maintains town partnerships with places in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, and Hungary, which encourage international exchange. These connections regularly bring visitors and activities from different European regions to the town.
