Penne, Historic commune in Province of Pescara, Italy
The town stands at 438 meters above sea level between the Tavo and Fino rivers, covering an area of 91 square kilometers.
After the Romans defeated the Vestini people in 89 BC, the settlement transformed from a Vestini stronghold into Pinna Vestinorum during the Roman Republic period.
The designation 'City of Bricks' stems from the extensive use of red clay bricks in the construction of buildings throughout the historical center.
The regional hospital serves as a primary medical facility, while the fashion house Brioni maintains operations with local craftspeople producing hand-sewn garments.
The town received a Silver Medal of Civic Merit in 2006 for its experiences and actions during World War II.
