Valdagno, Industrial commune in Province of Vicenza, Italy
Valdagno is a commune situated in the Agno River valley in the Province of Vicenza, surrounded by hills at approximately 260 meters elevation. The town extends through the valley with industrial and residential areas that shape its character.
The first written mention dates to 861, and the town was later granted as a fief by the Vicenza bishop to the Trissino family in 1184. This feudal connection shaped its political history for centuries.
The Centro Culturale Comunale Gaetano Marzotto, housed in the restored Villa Valle, displays classical Venetian architecture and serves the community with its art gallery and public library.
The town is connected by the SP 246 road to Recoaro Terme to the north and Cornedo Vicentino to the south, facilitating travel through the valley. The riverside location provides good reference points for exploring different parts of the town.
The Duomo di San Clemente holds a stone polyptych from 1445 and above the Agno River hangs a set of nine bells in Veronese style. This bell combination creates a distinctive sound that echoes through the valley.
