Milo

Milo is a small town perched on the slopes of Mount Etna at about 720 meters elevation, surrounded by thick forests of chestnut and pine trees. The mountainous landscape shapes daily life, with steep paths and cool air defining the local environment.

This settlement was founded in 1340 by Duke Giovanni d'Aragona and remained under Mascali's administration for centuries. Independence came in 1815, marking its transformation into a separate municipality.

The Church of Sant'Andrea, constructed in the 17th century, contains three naves and incorporates the original colors of Giovanni d'Aragona in its design.

Spring and autumn are the best times to visit when weather is mild and roads are most accessible. Visitors should prepare for mountain paths and changing elevation as they explore the area.

Every September, the Vinimilo Sagra dei Vini dell'Etna festival brings together local winemakers and regional producers for tastings and celebrations. It offers a glimpse into the wine tradition that defines the community.
