Palazzo Pantaleo, 18th century palace in Old Town Taranto, Italy
The palace features a main staircase and wrought iron balconies that overlook the Mar Grande, with twenty-two rooms spread across two floors.
Baron Francesco Maria Pantaleo commissioned the construction of this residence in 1770, selecting renowned builder Francesco Saverio Miraglia for the project.
The building houses the Alfredo Majorano Ethnographic Museum, which contains recordings of pizzica music and documents about tarantism from the 1950s.
The palace functions as the headquarters of the Municipal Administration and serves as a venue for official receptions and community events.
The interior retains original vermilion-colored doors with gold moldings and late 1700s floor tiles throughout its ceremonial rooms.
