Arch of Augustus, Roman triumphal arch in Rimini, Italy
The stone arch stands 17 meters high and features Corinthian columns with intricate carvings of Roman deities including Jupiter, Apollo, and Neptune.
Emperor Augustus commissioned this gate in 27 BC to mark the endpoint of Via Flaminia, connecting Rimini with Rome through an important trade route.
The arch displays a combination of Roman and Hellenistic architectural elements, reflecting the construction methods and religious symbols of ancient Roman society.
Visitors can find the arch at the western end of Corso d'Augusto, within walking distance from Rimini's central train station and several bus stops.
Medieval battlements added to the structure during the Ghibelline period remain visible, showing how the monument adapted through different historical periods.
