Castle Untermontani, Medieval castle in Morter, South Tyrol.
The fortification includes remains of a drawbridge system, main gate, and small kennel positioned near the ancient defensive walls.
During the fourteenth century, the counts of Annenberg controlled the castle until parts of its western walls collapsed due to river erosion.
The structure incorporates architectural elements characteristic of South Tyrolean defensive buildings, reflecting regional construction methods of medieval times.
Visitors reach the castle by following the state road to Coldrano, then taking the Val Martello direction at the roundabout toward Morter.
The castle walls contain evidence of water damage from the nearby Plima River, which gradually eroded its foundation over centuries.
