Curia Julia, Ancient Roman Senate house in Rome
The Curia Julia is the third named Curia, or Senate House, in the ancient city of Rome.
It was built in 44 BC when Julius Caesar replaced Faustus Cornelius Sulla's reconstructed Curia Cornelia.
The Curia Julia is an important symbol of the Roman Republic and its democratic principles.
Today, it stands as part of the Roman Forum, a popular tourist destination in Rome.
The Curia Julia is one of the few surviving structures from the Roman Republic era.
