Palazzo da Mula, Gothic villa in Murano, Italy
Palazzo da Mula is a villa with Gothic features on Murano, built with red bricks and white Istrian marble decorations. The structure stands on the south bank of the Canal of Angels near the Vivarini Bridge with an entrance portal facing the street.
The Da Mula family purchased the property in 1621 from the Diedo family and lived there until 1712. The building later changed hands and eventually became a public institution.
The building now houses community spaces and a municipal office where locals conduct their daily business. The grand hall hosts neighborhood gatherings and local events.
The building is visible from the canal, but the entrance faces the street rather than the water. Visitors should approach from the street side to see the portal and facade details up close.
This is the only surviving example of a Venetian villa built in the 15th and 16th centuries on Murano island. Most others from that era have been lost or heavily altered.
