Palazzo del Cinema di Venezia, Film theater complex at Lido di Venezia, Italy
Palazzo del Cinema di Venezia is a cinema complex on Lido di Venezia housing three screening halls of different capacities. The building includes foyers, cafes, restaurants, and a covered terrace with views toward the lagoon.
The building was designed by engineer Luigi Quagliata following modernist principles and opened on August 10, 1937. This opening coincided with the fifth edition of the Venice Film Festival.
The Sala Grande hosts screenings and ceremonies during the Venice Film Festival, featuring advanced technology and excellent acoustics for international cinema presentations.
The complex is accessible from nearby boat stations and features multiple entrances for arrivals from different directions. The covered terrace provides shelter and serves as a gathering space before and after events.
A distinctive canopy extends over the entrance and outdoor terrace, creating a seamless transition from water to building. This architectural feature allows visitors to arrive dry when coming from boats.
