Basilica di Agliate

Basilica di Agliate is a Romanesque church in Carate Brianza featuring three naves separated by columns. A stone and brick bell tower was added in the late 19th century and clearly shapes the building's profile.

The church was built in 901 and incorporates columns recovered from ancient buildings, some bearing historical inscriptions. These reused elements connect the early medieval structure with its Roman past.

The interior displays frescoes from different periods, including a 14th-century depiction of the Virgin Mary and late 15th-century paintings of the nursing Madonna. These artworks shape the church's visual character and reflect the artistic tastes of their times.
