Castle of Gorizia, Medieval fortress on a hill in Gorizia, Italy.

The Castle of Gorizia stands at the highest point of the city, featuring defensive walls, bastions, and towers that define its military architecture.

The castle emerged in the 11th century as the residence of the Counts of Gorizia, who controlled territories across present-day Italy, Austria, and Slovenia.

The Museum of the Middle Ages inside the castle displays original furniture, medieval weaponry, and exhibits about the regional noble families.

Visitors can explore the castle from Tuesday through Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00, with standard admission tickets priced at 8 euros.

The castle underwent reconstruction in the 1930s following World War I damage, incorporating elements from its original 16th-century design.
