Visconti Castle, Medieval castle in Massino Visconti, Italy

The castle features a three-story structure with high walls, one remaining tower, and gardens that extend toward Lake Maggiore.

The Visconti family obtained the castle site from the Abbey of Saint Gall in 1134, marking the beginning of their continuous ownership.

The castle rooms contained numerous frescoes that were later covered due to plague outbreaks in the village during past centuries.

Visitors can reach the castle by taking the A26 highway exit at Carpugnino or by train to Stresa station on the Milan-Domodossola line.

The structure includes a special balcony facing the village where the Visconti family members delivered public addresses to local residents.
