Castello dei Gonzaga, Medieval castle in Ostiano, Italy

The castle features an L-shaped section with two preserved towers and stands on an elevation formed by the ancient Oglio River.

Francesco I Gonzaga initiated the castle's expansion in 1414, while Ludovico Gonzaga completed its final layout in 1511 with quadrilateral walls.

The structure transformed over centuries from a military fortress to include a municipal theater and a synagogue during the 1700s.

The castle belongs to the Municipality of Ostiano and maintains sections that remain accessible for visitors throughout the year.

The fortress contained two entrance gates, Porta Spinata and Porta della Valle, protected by drawbridges and integrated into the town defenses.
