Sant'Antonio abate, Mannerist church in central Milan, Italy

Sant'Antonio abate is a church located in central Milan with a simple hall-like interior structure. The walls and vault display religious paintings and decorative elements that span several centuries of artistic development.

The church was founded in the late 1500s and underwent major renovations led by Francesco Maria Richini in the early 1600s. A Neoclassical redesign of the facade came later in the 1800s, giving the exterior a different visual character.

The church preserves artworks by multiple Italian masters, including the Nativity and Adoration of the Magi by Pier Francesco Mazzucchelli and works by the Carlone brothers.

Visiting during daylight hours helps you see the wall paintings and decorative details clearly. The church sits in a quiet area and is easy to reach on foot from nearby streets.

The building combines three distinct architectural periods: Mannerist interior from 1582, Richini modifications from 1630, and a Neoclassical facade from 1832.
