Castello di Zena, Medieval castle in Carpaneto Piacentino, Italy

The castle consists of six historical buildings arranged in a square layout with an inner courtyard and spans a total area of 2,470 square meters.

The earliest records of Castello di Zena date to September 1216, when Cremonese troops destroyed the structure during their campaign towards Pontenure.

The castle represents Italian architectural traditions through its fortified design, complete with a surrounding moat and remnants of a medieval drawbridge system.

Located between the Riglio and Chero rivers, the castle stands 4 kilometers south of Via Emilia, 13 kilometers from Fiorenzuola, and 20 kilometers from Piacenza.

In 2013, the castle served as the filming location for Il Custode, which won Best Short Film at the Giffoni Film Festival.
