Chiesa di Santa Maria di Ronzano

The church features a brick facade with white stone pilasters, three naves divided by cross-shaped pillars, and three semicircular apses at the eastern end.

Constructed in 1170 in the Mavone Valley, the church suffered a destructive fire in 1183 that burned down the Benedictine monks' residence section.

Medieval frescoes in the central apse display Christ giving a blessing, surrounded by angels and scenes from his life painted in 1181.

The church stands on a hilltop location, accessible through marked paths, and contains informative panels explaining its architectural and historical elements.

The circular window on the facade directly faces the Gran Sasso mountain, creating a specific alignment between the building and the natural landscape.
