Cowboyland, Western-themed amusement park in Voghera, Italy
Cowboyland is a Western-themed amusement park in Voghera with multiple areas designed to replicate American frontier style for children and families. The grounds feature ranch settings with authentic Western scenes and numerous outdoor attractions.
The Cowboys' Guest Ranch opened on 3 June 1995 on 50,000 m² of countryside near Voghera. In 2001 the Cowboyland amusement area was created inside the ranch. The themed area was enlarged in 2006 with a family roller coaster and new Western sets by Emilio Banfi, who also worked on Gardaland and Mirabilandia. The park's activity led Voghera to twin with Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The PalaTexas indoor arena hosts rodeo competitions, cattle demonstrations, and Western performances throughout the year that visitors can watch. This is where the park's connection to American frontier traditions comes to life.
The entertainment area covers about 35,000 m² beside the Cowboys' Guest Ranch, with picnic areas and a Western saloon, American restaurant, shop and themed hotel. The PalaTexas arena seats 1,420 for rodeo and Wild West shows. The park draws many school groups, so weekday mornings can be busier.
The ranch lists dozens of horses and ponies, about twenty young bulls and six bulls, plus skunks and prairie dogs. The Ranch Animal Tour also passes bison, fallow deer, goats and sheep, while the Stable Tour opens the horse stables to visitors.
