Forte della Madonna degli Angeli

The fort stands at 232 meters above sea level on a hill behind the center of Savona, featuring two distinct operational levels.

The Savoy family constructed this defensive structure in 1881 as part of a system to protect the coast and harbor of Savona-Vado Ligure.

The fort's courtyard contains a memorial plaque and bullet marks on walls, documenting the execution of resistance fighters during World War II.

The first floor contains former stables and ammunition storage areas, while the second floor houses three positions for 280mm howitzer cannons.

German forces transformed the fort into an anti-aircraft battery during World War II, equipping it with Flak 88 cannons and quadruple systems.
