Monte Croce, Mountain summit at 2490 meters in northern Italy

Monte Croce is a mountain summit at 2490 meters (8,169 feet) in the northern Italian Alps with steep slopes and exposed rock faces. The peak displays different geological formations on each side, with the northern face showing sharper rocky features than the more gradual southern approach.

The summit lies on the border between the municipalities of Telve, Baselga di Piné and Valfloriana. The slopes are divided among several owners: the western side belongs to the former municipality of Miola, the Valfloriana side to the Fornace "Fornasa" area, and the Telve side is private. In 1968 the municipality of Telve sold the Malga Cagnon di Sopra alpine pasture, 392 hectares reaching the summit, to a local woman.

Locals know the peak by several names: Kràiz in the Pinetano dialect and Kraizspiz, from the German Kreuzspitze, among Valsugana and Val dei Mocheni residents. In 2010 two local entrepreneurs named their ski-mountaineering binding and equipment brand Kreuzspitze after the mountain; the gear is made in Trentino and sold worldwide.

The climb requires proper mountaineering gear and experience with alpine conditions, as the route includes exposed sections and steep terrain. Start early and check weather and seasonal conditions before attempting the ascent, as conditions change dramatically throughout the year.
