The Medardo Rosso Museum is housed in the former Oratory of San Giovanni Battista, a 17th-century building in Barzio that was deconsecrated for the purpose. It holds sculptures such as Uomo che legge, Malato all'ospedale, Femme à la voilette (1893), Ecce Puer (1906) and Conversazione in giardino (1896), alongside drawings, photographs and documents.
After the sculptor's death in 1928, his son Francesco gathered works from studios in Paris and Milan and brought them to Barzio. These pieces were then installed in the former church building to preserve the artist's legacy.
The museum keeps the name and memory of Medardo Rosso in Barzio, the holiday town he and his mother loved; his son Francesco also built his own house in the same garden. The collection brings together sculptures, drawings and photographs from the Paris and Milan studios.
