Museo Medardo Rosso

The Medardo Rosso Museum occupies a former church building from the 1600s and displays the sculptor's works in sculpture, photograph, and drawing form. Architect Piero Portaluppi renovated the space to properly present artworks from different periods of the artist's career.

After the sculptor's death in 1928, his son Francesco gathered works from studios in Paris and Milan and brought them to Barzio. These pieces were then installed in the former church building to preserve the artist's legacy.

The museum displays works by a local sculptor whose family gathered the collection here. You can observe how this artist experimented with different materials and repeatedly reinterpreted his subjects.

The museum welcomes visitors only by prior appointment, which can be arranged through email with the management. It is wise to contact in advance to secure a suitable visit time.

The artist created multiple versions of many subjects by working with different materials such as wax, plaster, and bronze. These varying interpretations of the same theme demonstrate his experimental approach to sculpture.
