Nuraghe Orolo, Bronze Age nuraghe in Bortigali, Italy.

Nuraghe Orolo is a multi-part defensive tower structure with a central building and smaller circular towers connected by curved stone walls. The buildings are arranged on a sloped location, with living spaces and storage areas integrated into the complex design.

This structure was built during the Middle Bronze Age and continued to be used and modified over many centuries. It remained inhabited and in use until it was eventually abandoned in late antiquity.

The site reveals how nuragic people lived through its domestic structures and layout of different building types. Walking through it, you can sense how communities organized their daily life around the central tower.

The site sits on a slope, so sturdy footwear and a moderate level of fitness help for exploring the complex. Allow enough time to walk through the different areas and take in the stone construction details at a relaxed pace.

The site sits at the base of Mount Cuguruttu and commands views across the Macomer plain to the Gennargentu mountains and Tirso Valley beyond. This elevated perch reveals it served as a lookout point, allowing people to monitor movement across the surrounding lands.
