Oasi la Francesa, محمية طبيعية في كاربي، إيطاليا
Welcome to La Francesa, a wildlife protection oasis located within the special protected area of Valle di Gruppo, near the town of Fossoli, a hamlet of Carpi in the province of Modena. The territory north of Carpi, although subject to various agricultural transformations that have impoverished and simplified the entire plain's territory in the last half-century, currently presents a wide range of valuable natural and semi-natural environments, such as rice fields, fish farming basins, expansion boxes, irrigation canals, and ditches rich in hydrophytes. In recent years, public administrations and agricultural companies have added hedges, rows of trees, wetlands, and groves, also through financial incentives and legislative pushes. The combination of these environments, each of which does not represent exceptional naturalistic relevance in itself, constitutes a diverse and unique mosaic of environments that support numerous animal and plant species of conservation interest. The oasis area, named "La Francesa" after the pre-existing agricultural fund, is now owned by the Municipality of Carpi, which has granted it for use to the PandaCarpi Association for targeted interventions to enhance the area's natural value and subsequent construction of structures for naturalistic education and habitat conservation.
