Palazzo Bonacossi, Renaissance palace in Ferrara, Italy
Palazzo Bonacossi is a Renaissance palace located on Via Cisterna del Follo with a central tower crowned by battlements and two raised wings at its rear. The building now houses a museum displaying works from different periods for visitors to view.
The palace was built in 1468 for Florentine exile Diotisalvi Neroni who sought refuge in Ferrara. Two centuries later, Count Bonacossi updated the building with Baroque features to match the tastes of his era.
The museum inside displays sculptures and decorative items that show how affluent families furnished their homes. Walking through the rooms gives a sense of the tastes and values of people living centuries ago.
The building sits in a central location and can be reached by public transportation. There is adequate parking nearby and the location offers good access routes for visitors.
The building adjoins gardens that connect it to two other significant palaces, creating a historic ensemble nearby. This spatial arrangement allows visitors to explore multiple architectural periods in one location.
