Parco Alto Milanese

The Parco Alto Milanese extends across 360 hectares, encompassing territories of Legnano, Busto Arsizio, and Castellanza municipalities in northwestern Milan Metropolitan area.

Prior to the 1500s, the region contained dense forests supporting metalworking activities, until extensive deforestation transformed the landscape into heathland between the 16th and 18th centuries.

The park hosts annual events such as Grande Castagnata d'Autunno and Mostra Micologica, where residents gather for mushroom exhibitions and seasonal celebrations.

Visitors can access numerous walking trails, cycling paths, and equestrian routes throughout the park, with La Pinetina area offering 10 hectares for picnics and outdoor activities.

The park features approximately 200 exotic botanical species and maintains a network of underground water tables, contributing to its varied ecosystem between high dry plains and low water-rich plains.
