Palazzo Granafei Nervegna, Renaissance palace in Brindisi, Italy
The palace features three distinct architectural orders separated by string courses, with a portal displaying a lion holding wheat ears in reverence to a cross.
The Granafei family, merchants from Constantinople, constructed the palace in the late 16th century before selling it to the Nervegna brothers in 1862.
Four Latin inscriptions on the string course present philosophical messages about wisdom, wealth, listening, and diligence, reflecting Renaissance intellectual values.
Located at Via Duomo 20 in Brindisi, the palace opens daily from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM and houses municipal administration offices and exhibition spaces.
Archaeological excavations revealed floors from a second-century Roman domus beneath the palace, connecting the building to ancient Brindisi.
