Nostra Signora di Roverano

Nostra Signora di Roverano is a small white stone church nestled among olive groves and chestnut trees in the hills. The building has a simple structure with a single nave, Latin cross plan, and two modest bell towers that mark the landscape.

Origins date to 1350 when two shepherdesses reportedly experienced a Marian apparition near Mount Roverano and discovered a painting of Mary. This event led to the establishment of the sanctuary at that location.

The sanctuary holds meaning for locals as a place tied to a reported apparition of Mary that changed the region's spiritual life. People gather on September 7 and 8 each year to process and pray together, keeping this tradition alive through their participation.

The sanctuary is located at Via Roverano 5 and welcomes visitors year-round for worship and prayer. The setting is rural, so daylight hours are best for a visit since the church sits away from urban areas.

The sanctuary holds a 16th-century painting of Madonna and Child that has hung on the main altar since 1875. This artwork links the artistic past directly to the ongoing devotion that happens here today.
