Rifugio Tissi, Mountain refuge at Civetta slope near Alleghe, Italy
Rifugio Tissi is a mountain hut located at 2,250 meters on Monte Civetta, positioned to overlook Lake Alleghe and the Dolomite peaks surrounding it. The facility provides beds for overnight stays and serves meals, positioned as a base for exploring multiple hiking routes in this mountain region.
The Club Alpino Italiano founded this mountain shelter in 1963, naming it after Attilio Tissi, a figure important to alpine development in the region. The establishment reflected efforts to make climbing and hiking activities safer and more accessible across the eastern Dolomites.
The refuge serves as a meeting place where mountaineers from different backgrounds gather to share meals featuring regional Veneto dishes. This communal dining creates a sense of connection among visitors who come from far to experience the mountain environment.
The refuge operates from June through September and provides overnight accommodation for hikers and climbers. The high elevation demands good physical preparation and suitable gear, particularly if arriving on foot from lower elevations.
The refuge sits on a natural vantage point where Marmolada, Tofane, and Sassongher peaks are visible in the distance. This particular panorama of three major summits is rarely seen with such clarity from other mountain locations nearby.
