Villa Le Maschere

Villa Le Maschere is a Renaissance villa in Barberino di Mugello situated on a large estate with mountain views. The property provides accommodation in 64 rooms, two outdoor pools, and a full spa facility for visitors.

The estate was built in the late 1500s by the Bettini family and later passed to the Gerini family. These families expanded the structure and developed Italian gardens that continue to shape the layout today.

The main facade displays 22 carved masks with varying expressions, from cheerful to grotesque faces that showcase different craftsmanship styles. These decorations shape the building's character and reflect the artistic taste of the families who inhabited it.

The estate sits about one hour from Florence with a daily bus service connecting visitors to the city. Guests should plan to explore the expansive grounds on foot, so comfortable shoes are advisable for the visit.

Inside the villa sits a chapel decorated with frescoes from 1780 that was commissioned by Carlo Francesco Gerini. The chapel was specifically designed for ground floor access to accommodate a significant ecclesiastical visit.
