Villa Lomellini Rostan, 16th century noble villa in Multedo, Italy
Villa Lomellini Rostan is a noble residence from the 16th century located in Multedo, featuring two main floors with a mezzanine level. Access to the entrance is provided through two external staircases that converge toward the main door.
Angelo Lomellini commissioned its construction between 1564 and 1568 on land his family had owned since 1343. The building rose on family property that had been in their possession for more than two centuries.
The interior walls display frescoes depicting Roman scenes, created by the artist Bernardo Castello during the villa's early years. These paintings tell stories from ancient times and shape how the rooms appear to visitors today.
The building now serves as the headquarters of Genoa CFC football club and underwent restoration following a fire in 1978. Check ahead if visits are possible, as this is a private facility used for club activities.
The property once had one of Europe's finest English gardens, designed by Emanuele Andrea Tagliafichi between 1760 and 1762. This garden no longer exists today, but it was a remarkable achievement in landscape design during its time.
