Municipio 8

Municipio 8 is an administrative district in northwestern Milan that encompasses neighborhoods including Porta Volta, CityLife, and Gallaratese across a large urban area. The zone features mixed residential and commercial buildings, public spaces, and varying architectural styles from different periods.

The area took shape as an administrative division in the 1980s and was reorganized into a Municipality in 2016 to strengthen local governance. This restructuring allowed the district to manage its own affairs more independently.

QT8 district shows its roots in experimental urban planning from the post-war period, visible in how it is organized and built today. People experience this area as a carefully planned neighborhood that blends residential spaces with public green areas and distinctive architecture.

Several metro stations including Amendola, Bonola, and QT8 connect this area to Milan's public transport system, making movement straightforward. Walking is also practical in the residential neighborhoods, though the district is quite spread out.

Monte Stella is an engineered hill built from rubble in the 1950s and today serves as a park where people gather for views and outdoor time. Few visitors realize this artificial elevation sits at the heart of a story about Milan's rebuilding after World War II.
