Tomba dei giganti di Pascaredda, Nuragic burial monument in Calangianus, Sardinia, Italy
Tomba dei giganti di Pascaredda is a prehistoric burial monument with two curved walls made of ten large granite slabs forming an exedra and leading to a rectangular burial chamber. The structure displays characteristic dolmenic architecture, where massive stones were stacked dry against each other.
The monument was built during the Bronze and Late Bronze Age and represents a typical example of settlement and burial practices in early Sardinia. This form of dolmenic architecture was used for centuries in the region.
The central stone at the entrance shows an opening leading to the burial chamber where offerings were left on stone surfaces during burial rituals.
The site is located about three kilometers from Calangianus near Mount Deu and is reached via a path branching off from State Road 127 toward Tempio Pausania. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes as the terrain is uneven and access may depend on weather conditions.
The inner walls of the passage tilt slightly inward, creating an increasingly narrow effect as you approach the chamber. This subtle slant may have been an intentional design feature to enhance a sense of solemnity.
