Castello Bissari Sforza Colleoni

Castello Bissari Sforza Colleoni is a medieval castle in Costabissara with thick stone walls and a reinforced northeastern tower structure. The building preserves four original Gothic windows and demonstrates the defensive design typical of fortified residences from that era.

The castle was built in the 10th century and suffered major destruction in 1241, followed by reconstruction in 1285 under the Bissari family. Over the following centuries it passed through various ruling families who shaped its role in the region.

The chapel within holds frescoes showing religious scenes and a marble altar with a statue, reflecting how spiritual devotion was woven into daily life at the residence. The decoration shows the connection between the rulers and the religious community they supported.
