Castello di Burgos

The Castello di Burgos rises on a granite cliff at 650 meters altitude, featuring a square tower reaching 15 meters in height and triple defensive walls.

Constructed in 1134 by Gonario I de Lacon-Gunale, the castle served as a strategic control point to monitor the boundaries of the Judicate of Torres.

The Museum of the Castles of Sardinia, established within the castle complex, displays exhibits about hundred fortifications and coastal towers across the island.

The castle maintains regular visiting hours from Tuesday through Sunday, with sessions in the morning from 9:00 to 12:30 and afternoon from 14:30 to 18:00.

The fortress incorporates an advanced construction technique combining outer brick layers with inner granite slabs, demonstrating medieval engineering expertise.
