Castle Schlandersberg, Medieval castle in Schlanders, Italy.

The stone castle rises at 1100 meters elevation on a ridge above the entrance to Schlandrauntal valley in South Tyrol.

Built in the 13th century by the Montalban lords, the castle served as residence until 1755 when the male Schlandersberg lineage ended.

The residential tower displays architectural elements including swallowtail merlons, stone-framed windows with side seats, and a northwestern chapel within a round turret.

The castle trail starts from Schlanders town, covering 5.4 kilometers with 350 meters elevation gain through marked paths and safety railings.

Local architects conducted renovations in the 1990s, transforming the historical structure into luxury apartments while maintaining heritage protection requirements.
