Villa Affaitati Trivulzio

Villa Affaitati Trivulzio is a Renaissance villa in Lombardy with three distinct internal courtyards and a two-story structure arranged around different yard configurations. The building combines square and rectangular courtyard shapes in a carefully planned layout.

The estate originated with the Affaitati family, who received the land from Charles V, and passed to the Barbiano di Belgioioso family in the 17th century. This transfer marked a shift in how the property was managed and used.

The villa shows how wealthy merchant families designed and used their homes during the Renaissance period. The rooms and courtyards reflect the prosperity and lifestyle of that era.

The building is best accessed on foot and reveals its architectural details most clearly from outside and within the internal courtyards. Plan extra time for a slow walk through to fully explore the different courtyard areas.

An inscription in the main courtyard hints that the 1597 renovations were built atop a previous fortified structure. This belief is supported only partially by physical traces, yet it remains an intriguing puzzle of the site.
