Villa Malaspina, Renaissance villa in Fosdinovo, Italy
Villa Malaspina stands at the foot of hills near Sarzana, featuring a three-story structure with a foundation that incorporates fortress-like elements at its base.
The initial structure emerged from a medieval square tower mentioned in the Pelavicino code of 1231, before Gabriele III Malaspina transformed it into a summer residence in 1724.
The noble floor contains halls adorned with frescoes by Antonio Contestabile from Piacenza and Giovan Battista Natali, executed in the early 18th century.
The villa remains under private ownership of the Zuccarino family from Carrara and includes extensive gardens with geometric flowerbeds bordered by boxwood.
Local records document supernatural occurrences following the death of Marchese Carlo Francesco Agostino in 1722, when his sons reported seeing his form within the villa.
