Monte Tuffudesu

Monte Tuffudesu is a mountain in Osilo consisting of three peaks aligned along a north to south direction, with the highest reaching 766 meters. The peaks vary in elevation, with the northern one standing at about 673 meters and creating a visible ridge across the landscape.

Medieval ruins of a Malaspina castle stand on the northern peak, marking the strategic importance of the location during the Middle Ages. This fortress controlled the surrounding territory for centuries and reflects the defensive needs of the time.

The Church of Nostra Signora di Bonaria sits on the southern peak and draws pilgrims who come to honor local devotional traditions. This place of worship shapes how the mountain is experienced and remembered by people in the surrounding communities.

Several routes lead up the mountain with varying difficulty levels depending on which peak you aim for. Bring plenty of water and wear proper hiking shoes, especially during the warmer months when conditions are dry and exposed.

During summer months the highest peak operates as a fire monitoring station, helping protect forests in the surrounding region. This active use demonstrates how the mountain serves practical purposes beyond its historical and cultural significance.
