Palazzo San Pio X, building in Rome
Welcome to the Palazzo San Pio X, a building located in the Borgo district of Rome on Via della Conciliazione. This building serves as the headquarters for several authorities of the Roman Curia, as well as the Canadian and Taiwanese embassies to the Holy See. It is named after Pope Pius X and is one of the extraterritorial properties of the Holy See. The Palazzo San Pio X occupies an entire block north of Via della Conciliazione and is also bordered by Via della Trasportina to the west, Borgo Sant’ Angelo and the Passetto di Borgo to the north, and Piazza Pia to the east. On the opposite side of the street are the park and ramparts of the Castel Sant'Angelo. This building is home to several institutions, including the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, Vatican Radio, the Embassy of the Republic of China to the Holy See, the Embassy of Canada to the Holy See, and the Dicastery for Communication. The Palazzo San Pio X was ceded to the Holy See by the Italian state in 1979 in exchange for the Palazzo della Dataria near the Quirinal Palace. Visitors to the Palazzo San Pio X can admire its impressive architecture and learn about the important work done by the various institutions housed within its walls. The building is not open to the public, but guided tours may be available upon request.
