Palazzo Bongiorno

Palazzo Bongiorno is a three-story residence in Gangi with two connected wings and ornate wrought iron balconies on its facade. The building features a central roof garden and was designed so the upper floors contain larger and more decorated rooms than the ground level.

Baron Francesco Benedetto Bongiorno commissioned this palace in 1754 to establish his family's presence in the Madonie region. The project reflects how Baroque architecture developed in Sicily during the 1700s.

The frescoes inside depict worldly and religious scenes created by artists from Rome and Sicily during the 1700s. These paintings show the taste and status of the family who commissioned the building.

The palace has distinct areas on different levels with storage spaces below and reception rooms above. Visitors should know that the upper floors contain the most important artworks and most impressive rooms.

One room inside displays frescoes celebrating the triumph and power of the Bongiorno family. These paintings tell the family's story through artistic symbols and allegories.
