Kornplatz is a small square in the old center of Bolzano, Italy, set within a pedestrian zone. It is framed by old buildings and connected to neighboring streets through narrow lanes.
Kornplatz is considered the oldest part of Bolzano and once served as a busy grain and goods market where farmers and merchants gathered. In 1277, Meinhard II of Tyrol had a bishop's castle torn down on this site, ending the influence of the Prince-Bishops of Trento in the area.
Kornplatz sits in the pedestrian zone of the old town and is easy to reach on foot from most central points. It works well as a starting point for walking through the surrounding lanes at a slow pace.
On the north side of the square stands the Casa della Pesa, a building from 1634 that served as the city's public weighing house for traded goods. It kept this function until the late 1700s, after which it lost its original role but still stands today.
